Focus Areas

For 60 years, The Sheldon Trust has provided financial assistance to registered charities that transform lives—funding community projects, supporting special needs groups, and creating opportunities for young people.

Community projects around the West Midlands

Community Projects – these are grants to community-based charities in the West Midlands*, addressing an identified need within the local community. The organisation may be run by local volunteers and/or some paid staff.

Special needs groups around the West Midlands

Special Needs Groups – these grants are to charities in the West Midlands* focused on supporting people with special needs or those with age, health or learning issues which put them at a disadvantage within society.

Youth projects supporting 16-25 year olds around the UK

Youth Development – we support programmes across the UK, which address the needs of 16-25 year olds, who are not in education, employment or training (NEETs). While individuals will not be selected and supported directly, the Trustees will consider applications from programmes which encourage young people to expand their experiences and challenge their capacities.

*West Midlands area is defined as : Birmingham City, Coventry City, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, Wolverhampton and the County of Warwickshire.

We also provide grants of up to £1,000 to support holiday activities and retreats for disadvantaged young people around the UK. To find out more see here:   Holiday Activities and Retreats .
