About us
Our Purpose
We are a family run charitable trust that supports charity initiatives to help relieve poverty and distress in society. Our support concentrates on community projects and special needs groups in the West Midlands region and also on Youth Development projects for young people across the UK.
Our Youth Support focuses on 16-25 year olds who are Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET).
In addition, through our Holiday Grants, we provide funding towards small holidays and retreats for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds from the West Midlands and Greater London.
Grants are made to UK registered charities only.
History & Background

Established in 1965 by Mr & Mrs A. T. England, The Sheldon Trust has remained a family trust for 60 years. Having gradually grown with each generation, The Shledon Trust now also incorporates funds previously held by the Malcolm Chick Charity and the Pearson’s Holiday Fund. Funds are invested and professionally managed to maximise income which enables grants to be made twice a year when Trustees meet.
History & Background
Pearson’s Holiday Fund
March 24, 1910

The Pearson’s Fresh Air Fund was created in 1910 and funded by a gift from Mr. C. Arthur Pearson, as well as from individual gifts and legacies. In 1981 it was re-named the Pearson’s Holiday Fund. Although the original Fund had several objectives, the sole objective pursued by the directors in recent years has been “the giving of country holidays to poor town children suitably recommended to the Association”. This is the purpose for which the funds were transferred to The Sheldon Trust in 2013. HM Queen Elizabeth was the patron of the Pearson Holiday Fund prior to it being transferred to The

The Malcolm Chick Charity:
December 1, 1982

The Malcolm Chick Charity was established in 1982 “to make grants for such charitable purpose or purposes as the Trustees shall from time to time determine”. In keeping with the personal interests of the late Malcolm Chick, the principal interests of the charity have been focused on youth character building with an emphasis on sail training; support for ex-army personnel; and medical research relating to heart disease. Prior to the merger with The Sheldon Trust, the emphasis had been principally on the youth character building component, since both the other areas have proved to be relatively well funded already. The charity’s interest in youth character development matched Sheldon’s interests well.
